Finally I have the internet, so here’s some more news about Euskaltel’s transfer dealings. I was planning a big post about the rather more important news of the week but everything has pretty much been covered at this point, so here we are. Continue reading “The International Basques”

The future of the Worlds: 2013-2016
Well, this post was meant to come right after the Worlds, but laziness took over and now here we are. Anyway, during this year’s Worlds there were, as ever, stories and announcements about the future of the UCI’s crowning glory. Here’s a look at the news that came out about the future World Championships. Continue reading “The future of the Worlds: 2013-2016”
Floyd Landis barred from calling a spade a spade
The UCI today won their lawsuit against ex-cyclist Floyd Landis after the American said “I’ll say no” to contesting charges. This is a massive publicity coup for the incompetent federation, reminding us of Landis’ old claims and showing them to be as petty and vindictive as we know they are. Euskalnews

Few tidbits relating to Basque team Euskaltel-Euskadi today. Remembering Victor Cabedo, and an open letter from former Euskaltel riders. Continue reading “Euskalnews”
IAM Cycling (Updated)

Pozzato judged by someone other than God

Renowned jerk Filippo Pozzato has just been handed a pathetic three-month ban for his association with the infamous doping doctor Michele Ferrari. Farewell Moncoucou

The Secret Race

Just read it, just go out and buy it or pre-order it or borrow it or whatever. Just read it. You might think you know all about what a poisonous character Lance Armstrong is, all the stories and all the incidents, but you don’t. Not until you read this.
Fat Pat’s Doping Amnesty

- McQuaid back in the days before his lifetime Olympic ban (Rex Features)
It’s been a big few weeks in cycling. Lance took his ball and went home, renowned carnivore Alberto Contador has all but won the Vuelta a España, his first GT back, and good old Tyler Hamilton has released his book named The Secret Race. I’ve certainly never heard of that race, maybe it was cancelled due to lack of funds? Continue reading “Fat Pat’s Doping Amnesty”
Euskaltel-Festina in 2013?

L’Equipe is reporting today that the watchmakers will return to cycling for the first time since 2001 as co-sponsors of the Basque Euskaltel-Euskadi team. Recently, it was announced that Euskadi, the Basque regional government, will not be continuing its funding of the squad, so this rumour, if it turns out to be true, is good news for the men in orange. Fears over a decreased budget might yet be allayed.
